I had strange dreams again last night. Again, they involved powerful and evil creatures that led vast and horrible armies. This time however, two creatures seemed to rule over them all as if a king and queen. I could not make out what race or species they might be, merely their respective sex. The male wore an obsidian gauntlet on his left hand. It had a blood red gem on the back of the the hand. From that gem, veins ran out through the rest of gauntlet, connecting the gem to divets, which seemed to be crafted to hold, other, smaller gems. Had there been any gems in the divets, it seemed as though power would have flowed from the massive gem to the lesser ones along the criss-crossing veins.
His queen was equally terrible and wore a nearly identical gauntlet on her right hand, though it was made of an alabaster material and had a deep blue (possibly sapphire) gemstone.
The couple spoke to one another and what I now believe to be the generals of their armies in a language I do not recognize, yet I was somehow able to understand them. They mentioned something about a great war and the fall of the elemental anchors in the material plane. At that point, the king turned aside and seemed to look directly at me. He pointed in my direction and I was awoken when a stone that had managed to get into the fire popped from being overheated.
These dreams confuse and worry me. Who or what are these creatures? Am I seeing visions of some past great conquest? Or are these omens of some terrible events to come? I hope they're the former, because I shudder to think that such horrible creatures bent on destruction live in our beautiful world. There may be suffering and even political problems here, but nothing like what I've been seeing in these dreams.
The mention of elemental anchors has me curious. I feel as if that is something I should ask someone with some knowledge of wizardry about. I could ask Lakmere, though I'm a bit hesitant to become too reliant on hims for information at this time. I know that some members of the Order have done much research into the history of the magical arts and even the politics of wizardry. I may seek to consult with them instead.
Once I did my morning exercises to clear my mind and focus my ki, I packed up my gear. Monty and Grisella had already vacated the campsite, but they were kind enough to leave me enough smoked fox meat to extend my rations by a few days. I'm still so full from the meal I shared with them that I haven't eaten at all today.
Today's travels were uneventful and I eventually made camp again. I have no companions to share this fire with, so I am left to my own thoughts. I estimate that I should reach the Troll Mountains sometime tomorrow, so I shall have to keep on my guard from here on out, I think.
